With summer just around the corner, it is important for pool owners to be aware of the fencing regulations in Texas.
The State of Texas has pool fence regulations contained in chapter 757 of the State Health and Safety Code. Fences enclosing residential swimming pools must be no less than 48 inches in height, measured from the side furthest away from the pool. Gaps at the bottom of the fence must be small enough to prevent a “sphere with a 4 inch diameter” to pass through.
Any gates built into a pool fence are required to be self-closing. Additionally, the gate must be equipped with a latch that will automatically fasten shut when the gate closes.
