Southern Miss to be encompassed by iron fence

The University of Southern Mississippi will soon be encompassed by a wrought iron fence. The campus, located in Hattiesburg, is receiving the fence in order to promote safety for students and also outline the entirety of the university.

The fence will be constructed out of wrought iron that will stand seven feet tall. There will be gates in the fence that will allow for easy access in and out of the university. Lights will also be installed on the fence so that night safety can be achieved.

New Egg & I Restaurant Opening in Austin

The first Egg & I Restaurant will be opening in Austin, Texas on Monday, January 30.

The restaurant will be located near Anderson Lane and Burnet Road. The day before the restaurant is officially open, there will be a training day at the store where all of the proceeds will go directly towards the Austin Humane Society.

Annual Fort Worth MLK Parade to take place January 16

The Texas fencing experts of Viking Fence would like to relay information that on Monday, January 16 at 10 a.m. there will be a celebratory parade honoring the life and accomplishments of Martin Luther King, Jr.

This annual celebration will kick off on Main Street in downtown Fort Worth. The people walking in the parade will travel from Main Street to Houston Street and end the parade at the Fort Worth Convention Center Water Gardens Plaza.

Fences For Fido constructs fences for deserving canines

The volunteers solely responsible for staffing the non-profit organization, Fences For Fido, believe that every dog deserves to be free from chains. The organization builds fences on properties where dogs are confined to chains for one reason or another.

Fences For Fido estimates that each fence they build for a dog costs their organization between $600 and $800. Donations to the non-profit, which was founded in 2009,are greatly appreciated.

Volunteers to help build the fences are always needed and people can also choose to sponsor a dog instead of physically volunteering at a site.

Victory Park home to Big D NYE party

A free New Year's Eve event open to all ages is set to be held at Victory Park in Dallas this coming Saturday.

Winstar World Casino sponsors this massive event, dubbed Big D NYE, which will have several local musical acts performing. The Good Question Band will be headlining with opening bands including; Good Shive Low, Prophets and Outlaws and Sleeperstar.

Fences of concern to Massachusetts residents

Residents of Weymouth, Massachusetts have become vocal about newly constructed fences in the area.

Chain-link steel fences have been installed atop concrete blocks near local businesses and neighborhoods. Residents of the area are aware that there are businesses that could benefit from the fences but believe contractors could have used different material.

'Texas Bound' program coming to Dallas Museum of Art

The Texas fencing experts at Viking Fence are pleased to announce that the popular series, Texas Bound, is coming to the Dallas Museum of Art in 2012.

Texas Bound consists of several native Texas actors and actresses reading short fiction pieces by Texas writers. This program has been on display in other cities including Austin, Houston and Fort Worth.

University plans to build fences for increased security

Washington University has plans to build three new fences to increase security on their campus. The fences will be built on the North side of the campus near two dormitories.

As an effort to keep out people not associated with the university, there will be gates that will require key card access for people to enter. There have been prior incidents where non-students have gone into campus and been near the student housing.

The construction of the fencing will begin in the beginning of 2012 and the key card access locks are set to be installed in the summer.

Kick off the holiday season at the Dallas Flea

The second annual Dallas Flea is set to take place this Saturday, December 3, on the South Side of Lamar.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will showcase crafts assembled by over 70 different local Texas creatives. These crafts are all made in the state of Texas and will make great unique holiday gifts.

Live music will be performed by Jon Sprinkle and holiday cheer will be apparent throughout the event. Rain or shine the Dallas Flea will take place because it is happening indoors and there will be free parking.
