More than 20,000 people expected for SXSW this year

The South by Southwest interactive conference will take place in Austin between March 9 and March 18. During that time there were be an array of events surrounding technology, film, and music.

Last year at the annual conference there were more than 19,000 attendees throughout the week. This year, upwards of 20,000 individuals are expected to stroll into Austin for all of the festivities.

The Nawlin's Gumbo Kings began their careers as jazz musicians in Lake Dallas. They are excited about their return to the stage tonight at the Lake Dallas Mardi Gras Celebration.

At the Lake Dallas City Hall there will be a large celebration in honor of today's Fat Tuesday festivities. Along with the jazz music provided by the Gumbo Kings, there will be crawfish eating competitions, and a Mardi Gras themed costume contest.

Fences built in Colorado to protect drivers, ward off deer

The Colorado Department of Transportation has begun construction on a fencing project that will span an area of Interstate 25. The area being covered will fall between exits 122 and 128.

That stretch of highway is a dangerous hazard to drivers and deer alike. Drivers are more cautious in their vehicles, but that doesn't always protect them when deer fly out from the greenery on either side of the lanes. The crossing usually ends in injuries, both for the drivers and the animals.

Michelle Obama begins "Let's Move" tour in Dallas

Michelle Obama will kick off her second "Let's Move" tour in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, February 9, 2012.

This tour focuses on the establishment of healthy food options in independent school districts across the country. The First Lady began the campaign to fight against childhood obesity and to help kids maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

Southern Miss to be encompassed by iron fence

The University of Southern Mississippi will soon be encompassed by a wrought iron fence. The campus, located in Hattiesburg, is receiving the fence in order to promote safety for students and also outline the entirety of the university.

The fence will be constructed out of wrought iron that will stand seven feet tall. There will be gates in the fence that will allow for easy access in and out of the university. Lights will also be installed on the fence so that night safety can be achieved.

Annual Fort Worth MLK Parade to take place January 16

The Texas fencing experts of Viking Fence would like to relay information that on Monday, January 16 at 10 a.m. there will be a celebratory parade honoring the life and accomplishments of Martin Luther King, Jr.

This annual celebration will kick off on Main Street in downtown Fort Worth. The people walking in the parade will travel from Main Street to Houston Street and end the parade at the Fort Worth Convention Center Water Gardens Plaza.

Fences For Fido constructs fences for deserving canines

The volunteers solely responsible for staffing the non-profit organization, Fences For Fido, believe that every dog deserves to be free from chains. The organization builds fences on properties where dogs are confined to chains for one reason or another.

Fences For Fido estimates that each fence they build for a dog costs their organization between $600 and $800. Donations to the non-profit, which was founded in 2009,are greatly appreciated.
